Nantucket Ice is a non-profit organization founded in 1995, dedicated to creating a year round healthy recreational environment where Nantucket children, adults, and families can gather to enjoy the sport of Ice Skating. After seven years of fundraising activities, Nantucket Ice Community Rink opened on July 26, 2002. The rink was greeted with incredible enthusiasm from residents and non-residents alike. In an effort to schedule something for everyone, a sample weekly calendar includes General Public Skating, After School Skating, Skating and Hockey Lessons for all ages, Nantucket Youth Hockey, The Nantucket Skating Club, Nantucket Men's Hockey, Recreational Hockey, Free Style time, Women's Hockey, Beginners Hockey and Youth Stick. Coupon Pass Books are now available at discounted rates for frequent skaters. The ice is also available for birthday parties and other group and private use. Although Nantucket Ice is up and running, a new fundraising campaign is currently underway. New monies raised will be used to pay for incomplete building- related projects and outstanding construction costs at the rink. Nantucket Ice thanks all the people of Nantucket and the off-island contributors for their generous and continued support to get the rink built.
